Form is pleased to announce its participation in Tokyo Gendai 2026, Japan’s international contemporary art fair, taking place from 11–13 September 2026 at PACIFICO Yokohama, with the VIP Preview and Vernissage on 10 September.

Launched in 2023, Tokyo Gendai brings together leading galleries, artists, collectors, curators, and art professionals from Japan and around the world. The fair was created as a meeting place for the global art scene, connecting Japan’s dynamic contemporary art and design landscape with the international art community, and creating opportunities for artistic, intellectual, and commercial exchange.
For its fourth edition, Tokyo Gendai brings together galleries from Japan, Europe, the Americas, Asia, Oceania, and beyond, presenting a broad range of contemporary artistic practices. The 2026 edition is structured around five main sectors: Galleries, Hana 'Flower', Eda 'Branch', Miki 'Trunk', and Tane 'Seed'. A new sector, Miki 'Trunk', focuses on works on paper and printed matter, including photography, drawing, and prints. Tane 'Seed', dedicated to digital media, including animation, film, AR, VR, gaming, and NFTs, returns after a two-year absence.
Alongside the gallery presentations, the fair’s programme includes Art Talks, installations, performances, and other events. The 2026 Art Talks programme features nine panel discussions bringing together figures from across the international art world to discuss current developments and questions shaping contemporary art today.

Ksenia Malafeeva
For this edition, Form will present the work of Ksenia Malafeeva, an emerging contemporary artist whose practice is centred on photography.
Malafeeva works between traditional and contemporary approaches to the medium, combining photographic imagery with painterly qualities and distinctive use of colour. Her work explores intimate visual narratives shaped by nostalgia, memory, and the beauty of ordinary life. Rather than simply documenting everyday reality, her images transform familiar subjects into atmospheric and poetic spaces, inviting the viewer to reconsider the relationship between photography, painting, and personal experience.
In 2024, Malafeeva was nominated for the Photo Basel x Maurice de Mauriac Photo Award. Her works are held in private collections in France, Germany, and Switzerland.
Form’s presentation at Tokyo Gendai marks an opportunity to introduce Malafeeva’s photographic practice to an international audience in Japan and to place her work within a broader dialogue around contemporary photography and visual culture.

Over its previous three editions, the fair has played a key role in developing Japan's contemporary art market, presenting sectors and content of museum-quality standards. Tokyo Gendai has been held at PACIFICO Yokohama since its launch, and since 2025 takes place in September, opening Japan's traditional autumn cultural season.
